Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Time flies. If you, too, looked at a calendar and realized that Mother’s Day is this Sunday, you might be panicking about your weekend plans (or lack thereof). A gift is a good way to show appreciation for your mom (she might not mind one!), and we’ve searched for deals on last-minute Mother’s Day gifts that will hopefully arrive in time, especially if you have Amazon Prime. Target is also offering fast shipping before the weekend or in-store pickup on most of the selections below.

Many of these options come from our Mother’s Day Gift Guide and you can read our Best Gifts for Moms for other ideas.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get CABLING for only $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com, complete Gear coverage, and subscriber-only newsletters. Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.

Kindle Paperwhite

This price is for the Paperwhite that has ads on the lock screen. The ad-free model is discounted to $135 ($35 off). Kindles are our favorite e-readers and the Paperwhite is Amazon’s top of the line. It’s waterproof, has a warm backlight, and the 16GB of storage is enough to store thousands of books. He Signature Edition It offers auto-adjusting lighting and wireless charging, but is not for sale. If mom doesn’t need those extras, the Basic Kindle is $80 off ($20 off).

If your gift recipient always has spare plastic utensils in their bag, this Cliffset cutlery set includes a fork, spoon, knife, and case. Better yet, it includes a cleaning system (a refillable spray and cloth) to keep everything clean after lunch in the park.

KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer

KitchenAid stand mixers are the gold standard in kitchen equipment that should last forever. There are a ton of colors available on both Amazon and Target, but only a few qualify for expedited shipping. The slightly smaller version, 4.5 quarts, is also discounted to $240 ($90 off). That one is only available in black and white.

Click the coupon on the page to apply this discount. Papier makes some of our favorite paper planners and the company has other notebooks and journals that we love, including this recipe book. Mom can write down all of her star dishes for herself, or to pass on, or it can be something you complete together. paper site offers many more cover designs, but you would have to spend the same amount on shipping to receive them by Sunday.

Aura Walden 15-Inch Digital Frame

Photography: Aura Frames

I love digital frames and they make great gifts. Aura frames are the best out there. This one is large with a 15-inch display and the gift recipient can hang it on the wall or use the metal stand to prop it up on a table. I prefer Marco Carver from Aura, which isn’t on sale, but at $149 it’s much more affordable. You can only sit in horizontal orientation, but the Mason, which is discounted to $169 ($30 off)It can be turned like the Walden.

If your mom has an Android phone and could use a smartwatch upgrade, we love the Google Pixel Watch 2 (7/10, WIRED recommended). It looks pretty and has useful features like automatic workout start and stop detection, fall detection, and safety verification to share your location with emergency contacts. The redesigned Fitbit app also looks much more modern.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Wireless Headphones

Photography: Bosé

They’re expensive, but they’re the best noise-cancelling headphones we’ve tested (9/10, WIRED recommends). If the mom in your life needs peace and quiet, it could be a worthwhile investment. Importantly, they offer a balanced and articulate sound. The sandstone color is especially pretty.

If the nearly $400 Bose headphones above are too much, you can still gift quality wireless headphones. These are our favorite budget noise canceling headphones and they have 40 hours of battery life. They are a little more fragile and while the sound quality is excellent for the price, it won’t match the quality of the Bose.

This viral curling iron is ideal for beginners. The Beachwaver B1 (8/10, WIRED recommended) rotates, so all mom has to do is hold the hair, press a button, and watch the hair automatically wrap around the wand. It will result in a beautiful curl. Just know that it won’t work for all hair types.

Some of us on the Gear team are Bath People. If your mom is one too, a bathtub caddy is a major upgrade. She can hold her Kindle or tablet to read or watch TV, and holds a drink and even a candle to set the mood. Depending on where she lives, this may be delivered after the weekend, so be sure to check. If it’s going to be a little late, add some extras like a bath pillowto Makeup Eraser Setand maybe a candle with your favorite scent.
