The San Francisco 49ers’ last-gasp loss in the Super Bowl proved too much for one furious fan Sunday night.

With his team just three seconds away from ending their 29-year wait for a Super Bowl, the sight of the Kansas City Chiefs crushing their dreams sparked a furious reaction from a fan watching at home.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the furious 49ers fan jumps out of his seat immediately after Mecole Hardman Jr.’s game-winning touchdown for the Chiefs and puts a bottle of Jack Daniels in front of his television, much to the dismay of his friends in the room.

After smashing his TV screen into pieces, he places the bottle back on the table and returns to his seat as those around him laugh in disbelief.

It turned out to be a heartbreaking night for the Niners, as their hopes of becoming Super Bowl champions were snatched away in the final seconds by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

His team was defeated in the last three seconds.

San Francisco was defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the final three seconds of overtime.

After the two teams failed to separate themselves in regulation, San Francisco won the toss and opted to take the ball first in overtime, a decision that ultimately backfired on them when they kicked for a field goal.

That allowed Mahomes and company to search for a game-winning touchdown, which they finally found with just three seconds left.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that the decision was made with a possible third possession in mind amid new overtime rules that grant both teams at least one drive each.

If overtime had lasted that long, the Niners would have had a chance to finish the game themselves.

“None of us have much experience with that,” Shanahan admitted. ‘We reviewed all the analyzes and talked to those guys. “We decided it would be better to get the ball third because if both teams equalized and scored, we wanted to be the ones who had a chance to win it.”

In the wake of their loss, the girlfriend of 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has hinted that he could leave the team this offseason, despite having a fifth-year option in San Francisco.

“This might be the last day we play Levi’s Stadium, Brandon and I,” Rochelle Searight said on TikTok. “Because we might not be here next season.”
