A problem with mini-classic consoles: the controller cable is always too short. Another problem with the otherwise excellent Sega Genesis Mini: it comes with a controller with three buttons, so Street Fighter II is basically unplayable. What if a six-button wireless pad was available?
Well, now there is. The controller comes with thanks to 8bitdo, which should not be a surprise – the company has made similarly-known replicas for many other consoles, including the original Genesis. This version for the Mini appears to be the same existing M30 2.4G controller, but is simply bundled with a new USB dongle that can be connected to the USB ports of the console. That also means that it works with the Nintendo Switch.
The controller is now available for ordering from Amazon for $ 24.99. It will be shipped on October 18, giving you a month to go through all Genesis Mini games that only need three buttons.
