A British man has been found dead at sea after swimming in the sea at a popular Cyprus resort.
The 87-year-old man was discovered in the water after going for a swim in Coral Bay, Paphos, on Friday.
The man was found floating unconscious in the sea after going into the water at around 1.30pm as other holidaymakers rushed to pull him to safety and call an ambulance.
He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors tragically declared him dead, according to Cyprus Post.
It is not known whether the elderly man had visited the popular beach alone or with family and friends.

The crystal-clear waters of Coral Bay are calm and shallow, making it a popular swimming spot, especially with families and beginners.
The beach is surrounded by villas and resort hotels, as well as diving centres and water sports rental shops.
Outdoor cafes, grills and cocktail bars cluster along Coral Bay Avenue, making it a popular attraction for tourists and travelers.
Friday’s devastating incident comes after another British tourist was found dead in his hotel room in the Greek resort of Ayia Napa on August 20.
The tourist, whose name was not released, was taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Cyprus police said they received a call about the man at around 9pm on the evening of August 20, adding that any criminal activity had been ruled out.
Another British man was also found dead in Cyprus in July after falling from the third-floor balcony of a luxury hotel.
The unnamed tourist, 45, was staying at a hotel in Paphos on the south-west coast when the tragedy occurred, local media reported.
Authorities believe the man was part of a group of tourists who had been drinking until the early hours of the morning.
The victim was found dead in the main garden of the hotel in Kouklia, after having fallen about 10 metres.
The scene around the hotel was cordoned off and authorities called in a state pathologist to examine the body, CyprusMail reports.
Any criminal activity has since been ruled out, Paphos police deputy director of operations Michalis Nikolaou confirmed.
The man is believed to have been staying with friends at the unidentified hotel for the past few days.
The group had consumed “a large amount of alcohol” before the fall, local media reported.
This is a breaking news story. More to come soon.
