83 more people infected with Covid-19 in Indore, Tally is approaching 3,000 marks in the MP District

With 83 more people testing positive for coronavirus in Indore in the past 24 hours, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the worst-hit district in Madhya Pradesh has risen to 2,933, an official said Saturday.

The death toll in the district rose to 111 after samples from a 40-year-old deceased tested positive, Indore’s chief physician and health officer Praveeen Jadia said.

The man died on Monday from the viral infection in a government hospital. He suffered from high blood pressure and other conditions, Jadia said.

Meanwhile, the number of patients recovered from COVID-19 disease was 1,381, he added.

Indore had reported its first few COVID-19 cases on March 24, when four people tested positive for the infection and the district has seen a sharp increase in the number of cases since.
