At an early age, Lynch developed a passion for the arts, especially dance and theater.
She attended the University of Minnesota, where she studied fine arts, before moving to New York City to pursue acting.
In her early career she worked in modeling and commercials before breaking through with Cocktail.
“It was one of those parts that models get because my audition was (wearing) different bikinis,” the actress told People in 2017.
“To make your first two films with Patrick Swayze and Tom Cruise, who are both – in Patrick’s case – really wonderfully sweet and kind, guys, I loved working with both of them,” she added.
