A little girl was shot while playing outside her Chicago apartment by a man who lived in her building on Saturday.
Eight-year-old Sarabi Medina was playing on her scooter with her father outside her apartment in Portage Park, Chicago, when she was approached by a gunman and shot in the head at 8:40 p.m.
She was preparing to start the fourth year at Reinberg Primary School when she was shot dead in the “completely unprovoked” attack. His mother was also killed by gun violence in 2018.
The child was rushed to hospital from her home at 3,500 blocks of North Long Avenue, where she was pronounced dead.

Michael Goodman was arrested moments after the ordeal. He lives in the same block where the shots were fired. He is due in bond court on Monday and is charged with first-degree murder.
Destiny Hill, the family’s neighbor, recounted Fox 32: ‘She was nice, she went up and down the sidewalk with her scooter smiling. An innocent, innocent girl who didn’t deserve this.
Rene Aquino, a friend of the victim’s father, Michael Medina, said: “She was his world.”
After hearing a gunshot, he recalled, “He said to his daughter, actually, take your scooter, come on, you’re going to get on, get on.
“He wasn’t even halfway to the door, when Ben said, ‘Look out, this guy just walked out of the building, he’s got a gun in his hand.

He said: “When he raised the gun, Mike saw him and said, ‘that’s my daughter!
“Mike starts walking towards him, he walks up to her and shoots her in the head.”
Mike, Sarabi’s father, then attacked the suspect.
The weapon exploded again, shooting the suspect in the face.
Sue Kyser, who lives nearby, told ABC 7: “You killed an innocent child, an innocent little girl for what reason?
“Now these parents have to mourn their baby and all, and every time they turn and look, they’ll know it was across the street.
“No one will let their children come and play here.
“People are not going to take their children to this park because they are terrified. We just wanted to pay tribute to him and his family. But that’s just crazy.
