72-Year-Old Woman Dead, Two Others Injured in Bronx Motorcycle Crash

Date:

A 72-year-old woman was killed and two others injured when she was struck by a motorcyclist in a Bronx crosswalk on Wednesday.

The woman was crossing Pelham Parkway North at Williamsbridge Rd. in Allerton when the driver of a 44-year-old purple Yamaha motorcycle struck her around 4:30 p.m., police said.

Upon impact, he landed about 30 feet from the crosswalk and the motorcyclist was thrown from the bike.

“When he hit her, the bike broke,” said a police officer at the scene of the accident. “He was thrown (from the motorcycle) and (the older woman) was left dead on the spot.”

Debris from the accident struck a 17-year-old girl who was walking on the sidewalk.

The three were taken to nearby Jacobi Hospital, where the girl and the motorcyclist were in stable condition, but the older woman could not be saved.

His name was not immediately released as police worked to locate his family.

Police are still investigating the accident.
