‘60,000 Britons’ are considering moving to Oz after being wooed with the prospect of more sun, money and SEX – as Australian minister brags ‘We are the new Love Island’

Thousands of Britons are considering moving to Australia after being wooed with the prospect of more sun, money and sex.
So far, 60,000 have shown interest, with Australian minister Paul Papalia boasting: ‘We are the new Love Island.’
Papalia is leading a delegation of Western Australians on a nine-day tour of the UK, seeking to recruit 30,000 Britons for work in the state’s public sector across a range of sectors including the police, hospitals and hospitality.
The delegation is also looking for doctors, teachers and civil engineers.
Papalia said, “If you are a single Briton, come out, because you may not be single for long.”

Speaking of the country’s draws, he said, “It’s a lower cost of living, higher wages and beautiful weather. What’s not to like about it?’
One of the King’s police officers on duty outside Horse Guards Parade was reportedly tempted by a massive starting salary of £51,000 a year.
Papalia said the nation is “getting ours back” after decades of Aussies moving to Britain.
He said, “You brought some of our best and brightest. And there was never that question about losing our children to the UK.”
Recruiting new police is a particular concern for Papalia.
He is charged with honoring an election pledge to recruit an additional 950 officers for the WA police force at the 2021 level.
There are currently 6,811 police officers, 300 less than in 2021.

Papalia told The Times newspaper that he was shocked by the resource issues faced by British police, along with the pay gap.
‘Wages (in the UK) are much lower, conditions are worse and resources seem to be much worse. So there are all sorts of reasons why (WA) is more attractive,” he said.
More than 800 British police officers have applied for jobs in Australia, The Times reports.
Recruits, who must have at least three years’ experience, start at around £50,000, compared to £30,000 for a British agent with five years’ experience.
The first intake is expected to start training in September.
At the end of June 2020, nearly 1.2 million people born in the UK were living in Australia, down 1.3 percent (15,220) from 30 June 2010, according to the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
The department said this makes it the largest migrant community in Australia, equivalent to 15.3 percent of Australia’s foreign-born population and 4.6 percent of Australia’s total population.
Males accounted for 50.8 per cent of UK-born migrants in Australia. The median age of 57.9 years was 20.2 years higher than that of the general population.
