6 houses razed in Batangas town fire



LUCENA CITY — A fire burned six houses in a residential area in Mataas Na Kahoy town, Batangas province, Saturday (September 16).

The Batangas police said in a report on Sunday that the fire broke out around 6:40 p.m. in one of the rooms of the house of Shiela Rabano, 43, located in Barangay (village) 4.

Because the house was made of lightweight materials, the fire quickly spread and burned five other homes, according to the report.

Local firefighters managed to extinguish the fire two hours later.

Affected families were temporarily moved to an evacuation center.

No one was injured in the incident and property damage has not yet been determined by authorities, the report also states.

An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the fire.
