A West Ham fan has died after being hit by a train after the London club were held to a 1-1 draw away to Belgium’s Gent on Thursday.
The 57-year-old fan was at KAA Stadium to watch David Moyes’ team in the Europa Conference League before returning through the train station, where he was injured.
He was taken to hospital for emergency treatment but was later declared dead.
Detectives at Sint-Pieters station in Ghent called it an “unfortunate accident”.
It is reported that train services in the area were disrupted for hours after the collision, before normal service resumed around 3am on Friday morning.
