A British tourist is in a critical condition in a Cyprus hospital after a disastrous attempt to jump from his balcony into a swimming pool this weekend.
The 56-year-old, who was staying at a villa in Pegeia with a group of friends, allegedly slipped as he jumped from the ledge about 10 feet above the pool.
Instead of landing safely in the water, his misstep sent him tumbling onto the concrete pavement.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Paphos General Hospital before being admitted to intensive care. The sun reported.
The shocking incident comes just three weeks after a 15-year-old British girl fell from a balcony in Mallorca on the second day of her first trip abroad.
The teenager, who remains unidentified, was put into a coma after her fall in S’illot, in the east of the island, earlier this month.

The Sun reported that he was trying to climb from one balcony to another when he fell from the first floor of his hotel, suffering serious head injuries.
According to a JustGiving page set up by family friend Erica Arnold, she was stabilised by paramedics at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Son Espases Hospital in Palma, where she is “expected to remain for eight weeks until she is well enough to fly back to the UK”.
Erica told the Sun that the little girl “is still in critical condition in intensive care, but the good news is that doctors have removed the breathing tube and she is breathing on her own.”
“She’s a lovely girl, everyone who meets her adores her. If there’s anyone who can fight and get ahead, it’s her.”
She added on the JustGiving page, which has raised just over £7,000 of the £20,000 target at the time of publication: ‘At the moment she is in a critical condition, on life support and in an induced coma.
“She has had two brain operations and will need two more, one on her spine and one on her back. Once she returns to the UK, she will need further medical interventions.”

Erica added: ‘The girl’s parents are in desperate need of accessible accommodation to travel to the hospital.
‘As you can imagine, this is a place the family has never travelled to before; everything is new and confusing, and there is enormous concern for their daughter.
‘The language barrier makes even the simplest things difficult, especially since all their time and thoughts are now focused on their daughter. They are also financially limited. It was their first family holiday abroad; they saved a lot of time.
‘However, they had no extra funds and were only going to be away for a week. Unfortunately, the family did not take out any travel insurance because they had no experience in travelling abroad.
‘This young lady is loved by many; she is always smiling and having fun and is a brilliant rider with her whole life ahead of her.’
The incident came weeks after a 19-year-old British woman fell to her death from a sixth-floor balcony while on holiday in Ibiza.
Emma Ramsay, from Hamilton, was on holiday with friends in the party island region of San Antonio in August when she fell from the balcony of the Vibra District Hotel in the early hours of the morning.
Paramedics rushed to the scene but the 19-year-old law student was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the days before her death, Ramsay posted a series of TikTok videos showing her happily dancing with friends.

The University of Strathclyde student had been enjoying a night out with friends just hours earlier at Hï Ibiza nightclub.
A representative for the Ramsay family told the Scottish Sun: ‘They are a lovely group of girls.
‘Emma is a law student and was about to start her third year at the University of Strathclyde.
“She is a delightful girl, you won’t find anyone who has a bad thing to say about her.
“She is an angel. It was a truly tragic accident and we are dealing with it as a family.
‘The family is in Ibiza right now, Emma’s parents are there.’
As messages poured in for the popular student, Ms Ramsay’s mother, Barbara Smith, paid tribute on social media to her “angel Emma”. She wrote: “I don’t even know where to start.
“You are my daughter, my best friend in the entire world, and I will miss you more than words can ever express. Rest in peace my sweet angel and sleep soundly. Mommy loves you so much.”
Lorna Lawson, headteacher at St John Ogilve High School, where Ms Ramsay was head girl, said: ‘We are shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of our former headteacher Emma Ramsay.
‘Emma was an incredibly kind, hard-working, bright and talented student who contributed greatly to our school community.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Emma will be missed and will always have a special place at our school.”
Her friend Paris McGoldrick added: “I don’t even know where to begin to tell you how perfect our Emma was. I loved everything about you and always will.”
