An American man was found dead inside a Colombian apartment after allegedly taking a drug that veterinarians use to euthanize pets.
Matthew Miller, 42, is said to have sent a Telegram message to his ex-girlfriend, who lives in Medellin, on Tuesday afternoon complaining about losing a business he operated through an OnlyFans account and his home, a source with knowledge of the investigation told DailyMail.com.
The woman and three friends ran to the seventh-floor apartment in the Laureles neighborhood of Medellín and found the door locked.
One of the people accompanying Miller’s ex-girlfriend was able to enter the house and found him lying on a bed before authorities were called.
The source said Miller’s cause of death was ruled suicide by poisoning.
They added that Miller and his ex-girlfriend, who has lived in Medellin for three years, ended their relationship a month ago. It is not known how long they had been dating.

The source had been diagnosed with a personality disorder and also struggled with depression.

“The deceased reportedly sent a message to a close friend stating that he had lost his company, his house and explained other reasons, which led him to take his life,” the report said.
Bhupendra Kumal, a 66-year-old Irish citizen, was found dead in his hotel in the El Poblado neighborhood of Medellin on Tuesday.
Kumal arrived in the South American country in February and told hotel staff he was suffering from an illness.
The police report indicated that there were no signs of violence on her body. An autopsy report is pending.
According to authorities, of the 37 foreign visitors who have died in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley so far in 2024, 16 were US citizens.
At least seven of the 37 deaths have been recorded as suicides.
The deaths of Miller and Kumal come just five days after James Perry, a 41-year-old Ohio resident, jumped to his death from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room, also in Laureles, according to the National Police.
