Dan Fogelman (photo), the creator of This Is Us, shared a heartwarming story about George R. R. Martin & # 39; s huge act of kindness toward his dying friend, Alex Hanan
Dan Fogelman, the creator of This Is Us, shared a heart-warming story on Monday evening about the enormous act of kindness of Game of Thrones George R. R. Martin towards his dying friend.
Fogelman revealed in a Twitter thread how he and his best friend, Alex Hanan, met Martin for Bruce Springsteen & # 39; s Broadway show in New York in 2017.
He wrote that Alex had arrived at the theater so early because he was excited and called me while I was driving in a taxi. & # 39;
Fogelman said that Alex was waiting outside the theater when he saw Martin.
& # 39; He says he's going to talk to him. I beg him not to do that. He hangs me up, & # 39; tweeted Fogelman.
& # 39; Now, a bit about Alex, he went on. & # 39; He is bigger than life. Handsome and charming as hell, with the best hair you've ever seen. He is also obsessed with Game of Thrones as nobody you've ever known.
& # 39; And he never listens to anyone, so I just KNOW he's going to sue George R Martin. & # 39;
When Fogelman finally arrived at the theater, he told his friend that he approached Martin, got a picture and somehow – miraculously – the mobile phone number of George R Martin & # 39 ;.
Martin was with his wife at the time and told Hanan that they usually go for pizza after a show.
Fogelman explains in a series of tweets that he and his friend, Alex, met Martin for Bruce Springsteen & # 39; s Broadway show in 2017
After the Springsteen show was over, text & # 39; to Alex Martin despite Fogelman and begged him to let him go. & # 39; Alex, as I knew he would, text George immediately. And to my absolute shock … George R Martin writes Alex back! He tells us to meet them at a local pizza joint, & Fogelman wrote
Fogelman said the four pizza ate for about an hour or two and at the end of the meal & # 39; George gives Alex a Westeros coin & # 39;
& # 39; Thank you George R Martin for creating what would turn out to be Alex's last year. And thanks to all involved in making his favorite show, & Fogelman added. Alex is pictured with Martin in 2017
& # 39; Alex says to him: & # 39; maybe we will go with you. & # 39; Alex and I chuckle at his chutzpah, & Fogelman remembered.
When the Springsteen show was over, SMS & # 39; the Alex Martin, despite Fogelman begging him to let it go.
& # 39; Alex, as I knew he would, text George immediately. And to my absolute shock … George R Martin writes Alex back! He tells us to meet them at a local pizza program.
& # 39; Alex and I are going. I am convinced that it will end badly. A weird miscommunication. We're going to be ghosted. At least it will be a funny story. And then George and his dear wife arrive, & said Fogelman.
However, the four ate for about an hour or two and at the end of the meal George gave Alex a Westeros coin.
& # 39; Alex reacts stronger than is suitable for a 40-year-old man. We all share ways. Alex is dizzy, & # 39; tweette Fogelman.
Alex (photo), who blogged about his illness, died in 2018, a year after his meeting with his hero, George R. R. Martin
In 2018, Fogelman dedicated this season's premiere to three seasons (portraits) to Alex
But what Martin did not know was that Alex fought a random case of stage 4 lung cancer, Fogelman wrote.
Alex died a year later in 2018. That same year, Fogelman dedicated the premiere at the This Is Us theater to his late best friend.
& # 39; But that whole year Alex never stops his hero over his night. And in turn, I will never stop that story, & tweet Fogelman.
& # 39; Or, larger photo: Alex's story. For our friends, watching this season's GOT will be bittersweet without Alex annoying us with sms & # 39; t.
& # 39; But it will also be a reminder of our friend, whom we miss terribly. And for me; not just a reminder of the power of storytelling. But also a reminder of the importance of kindness (for no other reason than being nice) these days.
& # 39; Our friend, Alex Hanan, is watching TV from above tonight. To spoil every revelation for everyone up there, everyone is miserable.
& # 39; Thank you George R Martin for creating what would turn out to be Alex's last year. And thanks to all involved for making his favorite show. & # 39;
