British festivalgoers are angry when a Belgian music festival was canceled at the last minute.
Security issues were apparently the reason behind the cancellation of the VestiVille festival in Belgium on Friday, although local officials have initiated a fraud investigation.
Several Britons traveled hundreds of miles to the city of Lommel for the event to find out that it had been canceled a few hours before it would start.
According to the BBC, 24-year-old Sammy from London and her friends each paid over £ 200 for tickets and spent nearly £ 1,000 on accommodation.

& # 39; We were about half an hour late and no one was allowed in, & # 39; she said. & # 39; We were all standing at the entrance and wondering what was going on.
& # 39; Everyone shouted: & # 39; What the hell is going on! & # 39; & # 39;
& # 39; There were only about 10 to 15 guards there. Then we were told that the mayor had decided to cancel the event.
& # 39; It was angry. People started flipping tables and passing by. & # 39;
Security anxiety for Rapper A $ AP Rocky, which was included in the star-studded line-up, along with Cardi B, Migos, Ja Rule and Ashanti, were cited as the main reason for cancellation.
Several Britons compared the event with Fyre Festival, the failed music bash at the Bahamas in 2017, which was discussed earlier this year in a huge Netflix documentary.

Videos posted on Twitter show an extended stage apparently ready for the three-day music festival at a campsite in Lommel.
But thousands of festivalgoers from Europe and elsewhere were shocked when the police, some with dogs, stepped in to try and keep them out of the field.
The Belgian RTBF network said on Saturday that the public prosecutor of Limbourg has opened an investigation into suspicion of fraud at the expense of payments and quoted spokesman Jeroen Swijssen because three of the organizers of the festival were interviewed Friday evening. The three were not identified.
An examining magistrate said that during the weekend, he continued to question this about a series of suspicions, including fraud, money laundering and violation of trust.
VestiVille wrote on Facebook and Twitter on Friday that Mayor Bob Nijs van Lommel stopped the festival on safety grounds.
The reports said that after consulting with security services and security for A $ AP Rocky star, & # 39; it was decided that the safety of the artist and the public could not be guaranteed. & # 39;

There was no immediate response to an email question from VestiVille about alleged shortcomings and other potential problems behind the cancellation, reminiscent of the Fyre Festival debacle.
That was intended as a music outburst in a luxurious setting on a Bahamian island. It was never opened due to a host of security and food issues.
Rapper Ja Rule, co-founder of Fyre Festival, would perform in VestiVille on Saturday. He has denied any involvement in fraud and has never been accused of any injustice with regard to the failed company.

Angry VestiVille festivalgoers placed comparisons between the two festivals on social media. However, some tried to reduce disappointment with pleasure.

& # 39; I was really the only act on # Vestiville & # 39 ;, tweeted Sammy @samanthamutongi. Then she placed again: & # 39; Another video of mine playing at Fyre Fest … means #Vestiville. & # 39;
