Jussie Smollett raised a fist in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement during a protest outside Trump Tower in New York.
The 38-year-old actor, accused of carrying out a fake attack on himself and claiming that his attackers called him racist and homophobic comments in Chicago in January 2019, took part in a major protest in Manhattan on Saturday.
With a baseball cap and an orange face mask, the star who appeared in the Empire series gathered with other protesters outside Trump Tower to fight against systemic racism and police brutality.
The tower was an epicenter for city protests where Mayor Bill de Blasio helped paint a Black Lives Matter mural on Fifth Avenue opposite the Trump building.

Smollett is battling a $ 130,000 lawsuit with the city of Chicago after being accused of carrying out a fake attack on himself in January 2019. Earlier this month, a federal magistrate judge said he would not order the city to share documents regarding Johnson’s resignation with Smollett’s lawyers.
US magistrate Judge Sunil Harjani said the reports of Johnson’s resignation late last year are irrelevant to Smollett’s civil case.
“This case is only about whether Smollett has forged a hate crime against himself and wrongfully induced the CPD to devote time, money, and resources to investigating that alleged false allegation,” Harjani wrote.
“Information regarding Johnson’s termination 11 months after Smollett’s attack for behavior related to Johnson found sleeping in his car is irrelevant to the city’s allegations.”

Since returning to LA, Smollett has been seen with his Empire co-star Taraji P. Henson and attending a Black Lives Matter protest.
His show Empire ended his six seasons in April, although he was not part of the final season after he was removed from the show because of the controversy surrounding his alleged attack in Chicago.
He was last seen in Los Angeles with his family in early July.
