A Brazilian influencer died on Tuesday due to complications related to surgery to increase the size of her buttocks.
Aline Ferreira, 33, had polymethylmethacrylate applied to her buttocks during the procedure at the unauthorized Ame-se clinic in the city of Goiânia on June 23.
Correo Brazilenze had access to a preliminary report indicating that Ferreira was in a coma and suffered a cardiac arrest last Friday and Sunday.
Her husband told Brazil G1 news agency that Ferreira returned home to Brasilia on the day of the operation and was doing well.
However, his medical condition began to worsen the next day when he developed a fever.

Grazielly da Silva, the biomedical expert who owns the site and who performed the procedure on influencer Aline Ferreira, was arrested on Tuesday. She claims she never injected polymethylmethacrylate into the model’s buttocks.
Ferreira’s husband contacted the clinic of Grazielly da Silva, the biomedical scientist who owns the site and performed the procedure, and was told that “it was normal and that she should take medication for the fever.”
Ferreira developed abdominal pain on June 26 and fainted the next day.
The woman was admitted to the Regional Hospital of Asa Norte and remained there until Saturday, when she was transferred to a private hospital in the town of Asa Sul.
Ferreira’s family said da Silva injected 30 ml of polymethylmethacrylate into each of her buttocks, according to news outlet Metropoles.

The 33-year-old was feeling fine and went home after her butt lift procedure on June 23, but her medical condition worsened in the following days. She reportedly suffered cardiac arrest on Friday and Sunday before passing away on Tuesday.

However, da Silva contradicted the family’s claims when he visited Ferreira in hospital, claiming that he had only applied a biostimulant and suggesting that the infection could have been caused by the sheets in the influencer’s house.
Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency suggests that polymethylmethacrylate, an injectable gel, should only be used to treat serious diseases, such as polio, if they cause the development of bodily deformities.
Da Silva was arrested on Tuesday as part of an investigation into consumer relations crimes.
The Civil Police of Goiás said it had closed its clinic because it did not have a health license and was not registered with the Regional Council of Biomedicine of Goiás.
