In recent years, the number “30” has gradually disappeared from the FPS data of the players. This is mainly because the latest generation of consoles are now almost every game with 60 FPS can represent.
Especially with the “most powerful console in the world”, one could assume that every game runs smoothly with at least 60 FPS. That’s what Microsoft called the Xbox Series X at the time.
But there are always exceptions.
The open world co-op hero shooter Redfall, which will be released by Bethesda on May 2nd, is one of those exceptions that is now causing disappointment in the Xbox community.
30 PFS for Xbox players
What happened? In a tweet on Redfall’s official Twitter channel, it was announced that the game will only have one quality mode on Xbox Series X and S at launch.
The game will initially only run at 4K 30 FPS on the Xbox Series X. The slightly weaker Xbox Series S only manages 1440p (WQHD) at 30 FPS.

The tweet also mentions that the performance mode will be delivered later with 60 FPS. An exact date or period was not given.
Where is the problem?
In social networks, among other things, it is suspected that the developers of Arkane Studios Problems with the CPU have. This is said to be related to the lack of experience with open-world and online co-op games.
Since the game hasn’t been released yet, this can only be guessed at. Basically, the Xbox Series X/S offers a lot of processing power thanks to the Zen 2 CPU with eight cores and a clock frequency of 3.8 gigahertz despite its advanced age. Especially since the graphics card does most of the work anyway in high 4K resolution.
time problems We therefore consider the development studio with a view to optimization to be the more decisive reason, which some community members also bring up as an important factor in the current discussion.
resentment among the players
If you take a look at the comments on the announcement, it quickly becomes clear that the Community anything but enthusiastic is. Most players seem to prefer to wait longer than play the game in this state. Some also say that 60 frames per second should be standard.
The comment with the most likes sums up the frustration of many players, as Redfall is known to be by far not the first game that »unfinished« appears:
“These companies really need to learn from games like Battlefield 2042. Stop rushing games that aren’t finished yet! Just wait for playability to peak before releasing it. People would rather wait than play something that has been rushed and is of inferior quality.«
Apparently, some gamers would also be satisfied with a significantly lower resolution, as long as the coveted 60 frames would be achieved.
“You’re telling me they can’t get it to run smoothly at 1440p and 60fps on the Series X? (…) Most people would even accept 1080p.«

Others go a step further and contact directly to Microsoft. The Twitter user @Toilet seat warns the tech giant against neglecting Xbox gamers. In his opinion, Microsoft is well on its way to scaring away its console gamers.
As a reason, he cites the rare exclusive titles, the lack of adjustments to the user experience and much more:

Some are also worried about the announced performance mode. Since Arkane Studios hasn’t given a date, some seem to think it won’t be released for months – if at all. Ultimately, however, only time can tell.
What do you think of the fact that Redfall will only run at 30 FPS for the time being? Are you still looking forward to the game? Will you buy Redfall when it comes out, or will the FPS cap put you off? How long would you wait for performance mode before losing interest? Or do you only play the title on the PC anyway?
