“Seeing Freddie here with us today really opened my eyes to why you should wear a seat belt,” Fred Jones, Norma’s surviving husband, told KSL.

The two surviving children were in the back seat at the time of the crash and were airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Six-year-old Anthony was released from Salt Lake City Primary Children’s Hospital on Thursday after suffering a broken back, ribs and a dislocated hip, KSL added.

He is said to be recovering after back surgery.

Eleven-year-old Freddie was scraped but suffered minimal injuries.

Fred Jones took to Facebook Wednesday to mourn his wife and share an album of family photos.

“Today my family suffered a loss, I will miss you both, I love you Norma Jones, Rose Jones, RIP,” the caption read. “We will always be Joneses.”

Highway 40 was closed for several hours while crews cleared debris from the crash, Fox 13 added.

Drivers were told to avoid the area until later that night due to the nearly five-mile-long traffic jam.

“What I can tell anyone who drives a vehicle or has a family and loved ones like me… I would put my seat belt on,” Fred told KSL.
