A man has been charged after a horrifying rage on the road has smacked a young student paramedic with a split eyebrow and broken eye socket.
Joshua Burke, 21, became furious after the 23-year-old paramedic, known as Erin, flashed her headlights at him after he had cut her off driving along Bungower Road in Sommerville, East Melbourne on Thursday.
After she was pulled by the side of the road, Burke approached her car and began to skip her, delivering several strokes with a can of deodorant, nine news items.

Erin was brought to hospital with serious injuries to her face, including a broken eye socket, and had to bring her eyebrow super glued together again.
The student paramedic may have to undergo surgery to restore her eye.
He also hit her car window and kicked against her side mirror.
After the incident, Burke fled the scene in his vehicle, but was later found and arrested by the police.
He has been accused of a series of crimes including attacking a counselor, deliberately causing serious injuries, possessing cannabis and a controlled weapon.
Burke would appear on Friday at the Frankston Magistrates Court, but the court was adjourned.
