Making history: the beauty is the first Malaysian actress to be nominated for an Oscar
During an interview with People which was published earlier on Wednesday, Michelle opened up about the milestones she has made in her life and especially her career.
“A lot of actresses find that as the numbers get bigger, the roles start to dwindle,” the Memoirs Of A Geisha star explained to the outlet.
“I’ve been very proud in recent years that we’ve broken away from stereotypes – it’s not just lip service. It’s happening. And it happens to me.’
The actress also added emotionally, “You go from shock to bewilderment,” and also wonders, “Wow, is it me?” How can it be me?’
“Because I’ve worked with so many great actresses who should have had this privilege, and that’s why I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to sit at the table and be seen,” Yeoh said.
The star will soon be making a grand appearance at the Oscars on Sunday, March 12, where Everything Everywhere All At Once is nominated for a total of 11 Academy Awards.
