Tye attacked his victim by stabbing her seven times after luring her to a remote part of a Suffolk park
Ipswich Crown Court, Suffolk, learned this week that Tye blamed the girl for breaking up with his girlfriend.
As a result, Tye, from Friston, Suffolk, left the girl to die in a park in Benhall, Suffolk, on October 2 last year.
In an emotional victim impact statement, the girl said she was determined to be independent despite her injuries, adding, “I’m not going to let him beat me.”
While waiting for help after the attack, she said she was determined not to die, as that would have meant Tye had won.
The victim said she faked her death so Tye wouldn’t continue the attack. As he walked away, he called her name to see if she was still alive.
She continued to scream for help, conscious and unconscious, for four hours before a dog walker discovered her at 6 a.m.
Detective Chief Superintendent Chris Hinitt of Suffolk Police said: ‘This was a truly shocking incident where the victim suffered lifelong injuries.
“Her courage and that of her family have been an inspiration to those involved in this case.
The defendant carried out a planned attack and left the victim for dead in a remote village square in the middle of the night.

“His only meritorious action was to file a plea of guilty to prevent the victim from having to relive the trauma of that night in court.”
The victim’s family wrote in a statement: “We would like to thank the police for the professionalism and humanity they have shown during this process.
‘To the NHS ambulance staff and the wonderful staff at Ipswich Hospital, along with the team at Stoke Mandeville, many thanks.
