Emojipedia experts have revealed the candidate emoji drafts for approval by the Unicode Consortium this September.
Emojipedia revealed the new emoji and created sample designs on a blog to celebrate World Emoji Day earlier this month.
It looks like two new faces will be added, in the form of a head that moves horizontally and a head that moves vertically.
A phoenix, a file, a brown mushroom, and a broken chain could also be coming to your smartphone soon.
Meanwhile, four gender-neutral families are included in the Emojipedia designs, in the form of silhouettes.
It is a family with two adults and one child, a family with one adult and two children, a family with one adult and one child, and a family with two adults and two children.
Apart from these characters, new directional versions of six different types of person emoji could arrive this year.
These are the person who walks, the person who runs, the person who kneels, the person with a white cane, the person in a manual wheelchair, and the person in a motorized wheelchair.
“Selecting an orientation for a person, object, or symbol to be represented by an emoji is a must for emoji designs when looking to better exemplify an emoji’s intended concept,” Emojipedia explained on its blog.

“This is especially true considering the diminutive size in which we see most emoji designs in our everyday lives.”
Taking into account the different skin tones available for these directional versions, the total number of new emoji rises to 118.
Unfortunately, it is not clear if these emoji will be in the final version of Emoji 15.1.
“However, based on recent years, it is likely that the final version will reflect this preliminary list,” added Emojipedia.
“This means no new emoji will be added at this stage, although there is a small chance that a candidate emoji draft will be changed or removed before September.”
In terms of timeline, Emojipedia predicts that some platforms will launch these new emoji within a few months.
“Expect to see some companies introduce early emoji support in late 2023, with most updates coming in the first half of 2024,” he added.
