Paramedics say 11 people were taken to hospital Thursday morning in Burnaby, British Columbia, after a school bus crashed into a home.
The bus crashed into the front of a house on the corner of Canada Way and 16th Avenue just before 8 a.m. PT, BC Emergency Health Services said.
The 11 patients taken to the hospital are in stable condition, he added.
Adrian Striga told Breaking: the bus crashed into the bedroom of the building where he lives.
“It’s very scary because if I had been there, I would have been dead,” said Striga, who said he has been renting the property for the past eight months.
He said the intersection is often busy with traffic and he routinely hears honking and screeching on the road. Traffic on Canada Way has priority, and motorists on 16th Avenue must stop before turning or crossing.
“I even jokingly told my friend that one day something was going to happen by my room, and now a bus came by my room because it’s a really bad corner,” Striga said.
“Canada Way and 16th: They need light there.”
Police have not yet released details about the circumstances of the accident, but have asked drivers to avoid the busy stretch of Canada Way.
