This MacBook (7/10, WIRED recommended) is our recommendation for most people. It includes a 13.6-inch LCD screen, a 1080p webcam, and a modern design. Under the hood is an M3 chip that offers a nice performance boost over the previous M1 processor, so you can trust it to easily handle everyday tasks.

If you’re looking for a laptop that’s more powerful than the Air but doesn’t need a Pro chip, this is a great option. It comes equipped with the latest M4 chip, which is the entry-level processor of the line. You’ll also get three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 along with an HDMI port, a MagSafe charging port, an SD card slot, and a headphone jack. Apple also doubled the memory on the base model, so it now starts at 16GB.

The 15-inch MacBook Air (8/10, WIRED recommended) is the one I keep coming back to. The larger screen size is very comfortable to work on, especially if you don’t have access to external monitors. The M3 also works well for all my tasks, including web browsing, word processing, video calling, and streaming content.

The M2-powered MacBook Air (7/10, WIRED recommended) came out two years ago, but it’s still more than capable. It includes all the necessary features, including a 13.6-inch display, a 1080p webcam, and MagSafe charging. You’ll also experience smooth performance and good battery life – we got up to about eight hours before having to plug it into the charger.

Are you looking for a desktop computer? The latest iMac (9/10, WIRED recommended) is also on sale. It’s not that different from the M3 version, but it does come with some new features. There’s a 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage support, an M4 chip that offers great performance, and the peripherals (finally) have USB-C ports. It’s our favorite pick in the guide to the best all-in-one computers.

iPad Deals

The iPad (10th generation) (7/10, WIRED review) is the tablet we recommend to most people. It has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina (IPS LCD) display, a 12-megapixel front camera in the center of the iPad, Touch ID integrated into the power button, and a USB-C port for charging. The A14 Bionic chip (also found in the iPhone 12) also didn’t feel slow during testing.

Apple’s latest iPad Air (8/10, WIRED recommended) now comes in a larger 13-inch size. It’s a great secondary screen for working or watching TV. Under the hood is an M2 chip that works flawlessly whether you use it for work or entertainment. The front camera has also been moved to landscape orientation, so you don’t have to awkwardly look to the side during video calls.

The new iPad Mini (8/10, WIRED recommends) arrives with mainly internal changes. There’s an A17 Pro chip (as seen in the iPhone 15 Pro) that can handle everything from graphically demanding games to Apple Intelligence (the company’s AI features launched with iOS 18). It’s a great, compact tablet for traveling, especially if you plan to use it for gaming or reading e-books.

The iPad Pro (6/10, WIRED Review) has a larger, brighter screen, a landscape mode front camera, and an updated OLED display. It is powered by the M4 chip, which offers super snappy performance. It’s also compatible with several accessories, including the Apple Pencil Pro, Smart Folio case, and the latest Magic Keyboard.

Apple Watch deals

The Series 10 (8/10, WIRED recommended) is the latest Apple Watch and the top pick of the line. In addition to a larger screen, it is thinner and lighter, and has support for fast charging. It also runs the latest WatchOS 11 operating system, giving you access to features like Vitals (to check your baseline every morning) and Training Load (which shows how your workouts affect your fitness over time). However, it does not come with a blood oxygen sensor.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly Apple Watch, look no further than the Apple Watch SE. As a more basic option, you can track steps, heart rate, workouts, and sleep. It also works with Family Setup, so it’s also a great option if you don’t want to spend too much money on a smartwatch for your child.
