The armed clash took place on a road linking Nuevo León and Nuevo Laredo, a border town with the United States in the neighboring state of Tamaulipas.
Mexican authorities announced that security forces killed 10 gunmen in an exchange of fire on a road in the northern state of Nuevo Leon.
Gerardo Palacios, a security official in Nuevo Leon, said on Facebook that the security forces “were fired upon by individuals who were on board three armored pickup trucks.”
“The outcome: 10 criminals were killed and 3 armored pickup trucks seized,” he added.
Palacios explained that the armed clash resulted in the injury of four police officers, one of whom was shot and the remaining three were injured as a result of their vehicle overturning.
